Sail Dagger – Flex

Our Flexible Sail Dagger was developed to expand the role of the off-hand weapon in HEMA, offering not just defense, but safe offensive capability as well.

We set out to create a dagger that could withstand the demands of modern competition — one that would be safe for thrusting, flexible under pressure, yet resistant to permanent deformation. To achieve this, we tested numerous steels and alloys until we found a material that met all our requirements.

The result is a highly flexible blade designed specifically for tournament fencing, allowing for dynamic and realistic dagger use without compromising safety. To further support practical application in competitive settings, we’ve also increased the size of the sail hand-guard to comfortably accommodate larger protective gloves.

We hope this innovation encourages the evolution of rule sets and sparring formats where the dagger plays a more active role — not just as a parrying tool, but as a true weapon in its own right.
